A Message from Our Founder

“When I started Yard Gym, I had one goal: to create a space where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their fitness level.”

Otley deserved more than just another gym. It deserved a community hub where people could challenge themselves, support each other, and become the best versions of themselves. That's exactly what we've built together.

Just 4 years ago we were training in a cow shed with a banging barn door, no toilet and the most basic pieces of kit. Customers would frequently get stuck in the mud leaving in the pitch black.

But we grew. We are not a faceless enterprise. We are a community of likeminded people who come together and just try to be better versions of themselves.

We don't have the usual brigade of 'New Year, New Me' sign ups. We have loyalty. We have friendship. And we have a space where you don't need to be 'fit' to start—you just need to start.

Personal Trainer

The Yin to Nikki's Yang. Meticulously organised where others are chaos. Thoughtful, careful, and sensible. Specialises in Hyrox and functional strength.

Personal Trainer

Ed brings an enthusiastic yet measured approach to training with a focus on technique. He works with clients through a range of areas, including rehab through corrective exercise and soft tissue therapy (sports massage), sports conditioning and calisthenics.

Personal Trainer

Adam is a high-energy personal trainer who brings results and fun to every session. He specializes in sports massage to ease tension, speed up recovery, and keep you moving at your best, alongside dynamic training and high-intensity spin. You'll leave every session feeling energized, confident, and more motivated than ever.

Conor

Conor

Personal Trainer

Currently completing his Master's in Physiotherapy and working as a National League rugby strength and conditioning coach, Conor combines evidence-based physio principles with high-performance S&C. With 5 years of coaching experience helping over 100 individuals, he's passionate about helping people move better, get stronger, reduce pain, and build sustainable habits that fit real life.

A guide to our classes

Lift

This isn't Body Pump using light weights for high reps. We take over the strength kit to teach you how to move efficiently. As we age, it's incredibly important to challenge your body lifting heavier for fewer reps.

Yard-Rox

Our very own take on Hyrox. Focussing on functional fitness. It's hard, it's sweaty, and you need to use teamwork. Pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone is where the biggest changes occur.

Abs not Kebabs

Functional core training — we focus not only on the superficial muscles that make up the core but also the deeper core muscles to support your overall functionality and support your back.

TIL the Wheels Drop Off

We aim to keep spin short, but intense. We don't bully you into adding more resistance, and we try and get you out of the saddle so you're not going numb from the waist down. We're not serious and nobby—if you want to ride the Tour de France, that's not us.
